Eald Bycatch the Eeler's Choice Frankenplushie!

I know I said I didn't see myself making one, but I got inspired!

For the base, I used a baby blue teddy bear whose fur had a ripple / wave pattern

Eald Bycatch uses parts of eighteen different plushies; three of them I had to cut up specifically to build her, but the other fifteen donor parts came from my scrapbox.

(if you're interested, it's the base bear and the two dolphins - I used all of the dark blue dolphin but I still have the pale blue one's tail and the head of the Clintons bear I decapitated to form Eald Bycatch's body)

This makes Eald Bycatch the plush amalgam with the second most beanies used in her creation - Natalie Shoes the Earthbound / Mother 3 Horseantula chimera inspired by Loki's mutant horse child Sleipnir has her beat with combining parts of twenty one different stuffed animals!

My design for Eald Bycatch is heavily inspired by Doctor Alfred R Baldey the Marine Bearologist, a frankenplushie made for me by my partner for my birthday in 2022

Doctor A R Baldey's apperance is canonically the result of an accident in his lab that merged him with a deep sea eel and some frog spawn, so modeling Eald Bycatch on him seemed astonishingly appropriate!

Eald Bycatch is also a personal milestone for me; when I first started making frankenplushies back in 2020, I made Burr-Ty the Ars Goetia Demon plush based on Buer. At the time, my partner told me "I think this is the weirdest one you've made so far".

After that, every time I made a plush amalgamate that I thought was particularly weird, I'd show it to him and ask, "Is it weirder than Burr-Ty?"

And every time he'd take it from me, turn it around in his hands, think for a while and say, "No, I think Burr-Ty is still weirder."

Even Brr-sing, the Earthbound / Mother 3 Ostrelephant chimera only got a "oh, you're unique!" out of him.

This time, when I showed him Eald Bycatch, he held her up to the light, turned her this way and that, and said, "Hmm. Yeah. Yeah I think she's up there."

Finally.

If you want to lean more about the sexy sea lady that is Eald Bycatch, you should absolutely be listening to @eelerschoice season one, and consider bringing more wet beasts into the audiodrama sphere by donating to their season two crowdfund

Is fallout first worth it, I dont play super often but all the cool stuff I want this season is locked behind it LOL

honestly, to me, it's only worth it if you build a lot. or, hate dealing with other people. you get access to the scrapbox + ammobox which is infinite and you get private worlds. and custom worlds. plus 1650 atoms but that's only if you care abt atomic shop items.

personally, i get it for 1 month every season. saves me money doing so and i get all the cool stuff on the scoreboard. also i get to stay away from people for a month and hoard all of my junk items. i build a lot, so it just helps me stay stocked up on junk.

also i do have a friend list and they're all free to join my private server if they want to and without asking. i really do not care. (my husbutch's part of a rp group and they bum off each other's private worlds often, so i just got used to that lol.) just saying that because people on your friend list might bum off your private server- which isn't a big deal. or, well, you can turn that off to where it's only your private team that's on the server.

but i do have to say something- if you do get it, and you're on PS, please make sure you know the date you got it. because i've had it to where even though i've turned it off, auto-renewal magically turns back on on its own. so the day before, just turn it back off again, or cancel your subscription.

Reading feedback received after midterm review, here are some of them that stuck out to me the most:

Fans, angry with Fallout 1st’s $100 price, buy falloutfirst.com and defile it

We all have bad days. Sometimes even weeks. But if a week has gone as badly for you as this last one has for Bethesda, then I feel for you. Someone has purchased the domain for falloutfirst.com, and is using it to absolutely savage the publisher’s latest bright idea.

Earlier this week Bethesda rolled out Fallout 1st, a new premium subscription service for its troubled MMO Fallout 76. Given the shoddy state in which that game launched last year, the announcement of a premium membership with a bold $100 per year asking price did not go down brilliantly on Twitter and Reddit. ‘Rubbish, it’ll be fine’, some hypothetical die-hard fans presumably said, and went ahead and purchased it anyway, because Bethesda couldn’t mess this up, could it? It did.

Reports of private servers being invaded by other players and scrapboxes eating materials were fairly common and the fans who were miffed before are now furious. And if there’s one thing the internet has taught us - as Blizzard could've told Bethesda after Diablo Immortal last year - it’s that its denizens can find some pretty inventive ways to channel their emotions. Also, some of them know how to buy and design websites. Also, you should /definitely/ register every domain name that bears a resemblance to your products. You can see where I’m going with this.

People often think link-building is one of the hardest parts of the SEO process. Sure, with Google now cracking down on excessive hyperlinking and spam tactics, it’s a valid argument. However, it’s only difficult if you insist on using traditional methods.

These days, it takes out-of-the-box thinking and marketing prowess to create reliable and authentic brands. While traditional link-building still has its place in making this happen, there’s now a greater focus on using a non-linked brand citation. In this article, we look at what this means, why you should care, and how to include it in your link-building strategy.

Firstly, what is a non-linked brand citation?

In simpler terms, “non-linked brand citations” are also known as a “brand mentions” or “implied links.” Compared to “express links” (backlinks or hyperlinks), they are exactly as they sound – references or mentions of a brand or website without an explicit link. These references could be anywhere – in the body of a blog post, a comment on social media, web page, or customer review.

How to do this fast using Scrapebox

Turning brand mentions into links is one of the easiest and most effective link-building strategies out there. It increases a brand’s authority, and search rankings help establish new relationships with reputable websites and offer greater audience insights. But to use brand mentions, you need to discover them first.

Enter Scrapebox. This powerful SEO tool is known as the “Swiss Army Knife of SEO,” renowned for its different capabilities – from extensively harvesting URLs and keywords, to verifying links and in this case, researching non-linked brand citations. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do this:

1. As an example, let’s use http://coronationim.com. Now, open Scrapebox, test if you have a working proxy (you will need them!), then type in:

intext: “domainname.com”

intext: “domain name”

Tip! If your domain is focused on a specific market besides the US or global you can add it to the search query. E.g., for France add site:fr, for United Kingdom site:UK, etc.

intext: “domainname” site:fr

2. Click “Start Harvesting,” then click first three search engines and click “Start.” When harvesting is done, click “Exit to Main.”

3. Time to get rid of unwanted URL’s. Do this by clicking “Remove/filter” and then:

Remove Duplicate Domains

Remove URL's containing and type in: .pdf and click "ok"

Remove URL's containing and type in: wiki and click "ok"

Remove URL's containing and type in: google and click "ok"

Remove URL's containing and type in: facebook and click "ok"

Remove URL's containing and type in: directory and click "ok

4. In URLs harvested, click the right mouse button and choose “Copy All URL’s to Clipboard.” Then:

Open NotePad++, paste URL’s from Clipboard and click “CTR + F” (for Windows) or “Command + F” (for Mac) and go to tab “Replace”.

In "Find What" paste: (((https?://).+[^/]+$)|.+)

In “Replace” paste: $2

Remember to have ticked "Regular expression".

Click "Replace All" - this will get rid of homepage URL’s, and non-linked citation will be only on article pages

Copy URL’s that are left and return to Scrapbox

5. Click right mouse button again in URL’s Harvested window and choose "Paste/Replace from Clipboard (replace current list)

6. In this step, check on URLs if there are already clickable links - you don't need these. Click "List" and choose "Transfer URL's to Blog List for Commenter".

7. In "Comment Poster" section, tick "Check Links". There are only two active menus, but now you need to open "notes" or "notepad" and create a new file where you will paste the domain's homepage URL's in separate lines (with https and without, with www and without). For example, for http://coronationim.com it will look like this:

Save the file and return to Scrapbox.

Websites - click “open” and choose file that has already been created (with domains names)

INTERNAL - these are URL’s copied before when you clicked “Transfer URL’s to Blog List for Commenter”.

Now click “Start Link Checker.”

8. In the new window, click “Start/Recheck”. After checking if your domain already exists on harvest URL’s you will see:

Click “Export” and choose “Export links not found as text file” and save file.

9. Open Google Sheets and create a spreadsheet as shown below:

10. In column A (URL), paste URLs from the file that you saved “links not found as text file" and check them manually. After this, it’s time to start outreach!

How to recognize valuable links worth outreaching

When it comes to outreach, common sense goes a long way. Before getting in touch with websites, it’s best to avoid forums, directories, press releases, spammy websites and most importantly, negative mentions of your brand. Once you’ve settled on sites that are legitimate and relevant, it’s time to get in touch. This is where etiquette goes a long way. Here are a couple of tips:

Use https://hunter.io to find the website owner's email address.

In your email, use their first name and make sure your content is customised and relevant.

Clearly and concisely communicate the value of what you’re asking for - and how it benefits them.

Ask kindly if they could insert a link to your website if they already mention it.

Outreach from your domain name - it holds more authority

Check back after a few days if you haven’t heard from them

Offer additional value if needed - e.g., your expert SEO skills

Just remember that when you’re outreaching, you’re talking to real people. So don’t communicate like a robot or use overly technical language. Simply be genuine, engaging and straightforward.
